this is very interesting and im very curious what they will deliver!!!
I hope theres a bit positve approach and not just pure propaganda or even a dismissing thing.

But as someone said, sometimes even bad news are good news.

Btw I once had this idea of female soul vocals driven alternative to the ending of Love Supreme, to bad I'm not a musician. I would certainly cover my *** off.

:D :D
Buy an e-bass and take off!! ;)
I mean you can even start with Magix music maker :D
Maybe mr. Giggles will play the moog and the fiddle ...
i also have no problem to drive to Bruegges for 4 days and record the drums :D
its getting more and more fantastic isnt it?

Yes maybe some bands & artists like Pat Mastelotto and Beardfish, IZZ and MoonSafari will contribute something, that would be very cool!!!

Now that I'm listening to it, mixing the beginning of alas my love track (the bony king of nowhere) with 'the monster within' vocal line would be so crazy!

I hope I'll never get to hear this - whatever the title of their choice. I heard Contrarian's rendition of Wigwam's Lucky Golden Stripes and Starpose on one of Colossus's tributes to Finnish prog and that was truly and absolutely horrendous - not to say inappropriate.

NotSteven! Where have you been hiding? I thought you'd given up coming on here. Maybe you've been working hard in the real world instead.
Nice to see you back anyway. :)

Give up coming on here? Perish the thought! I may not have contributed much lately (the real world is to blame, as you rightly suggest), but I have checked the forum as regularly as ever - and will continue to do so.

WOW!

Very interesting project indeed... I don't know much of the bands here, but I'm willing to hear their own versions of this excellent selection of TFK tracks...

Some interesting choices!

Instrumentals like Blessing of a Smile, The Man Who Walked With Kings, Rumble Fish Twist, Theme for a Hero, Pipes of Peace, The Rainmaker

Simple songs like The Way the Waters are Moving, Jealousy, Dream on Dreamer, Dont Let the Devil In

Full epics like Alert: Turn the Flora to This World, I'm the Sun - part 1 AND part 2

Even solo stuff like Close Your Eyes, Lobsterland Groove

I'm wondering who made the cover art :

The font on the bottom of that artwork looks suspiciously a lot like the font used on the first two The Tangent albums...

Either way, this sounds like a good thing coming, especially in a year that may not see a TFK-release!

I'm relieved to see that the god-awful Contrarian have had the good sense not to perform any of my biggest TFK favourites. I am forever mortified by their irreverential rendition of the Wigwam classic Lucky Golden Stripes and Starpose; I was unfortunate enough to have it played to me once. I guess they only do these tributes to gain exposure... They obviously think that there's not much difference between tribute and contribute - I'm afraid theirs is more like a con-tribute.

:D
maybe shes a tfk fan?

my feel is a bit ambi at the moment.
bcause usually i dont like TRIBUTE discs that much.
But since the Gentle Giant tribute i *know*, better said, i believe that there is
the possibility TO DO A GOOD TRIBUTE DISC.

If tfk is lucky, this thing will consist of 60-70% good covers.
And there are really good bands in there so im still hoping for something good in the sense of music.
you can discuss about if a NOT SO GOOD TRIBUTE is good anyway to spread the word.

I haven't heard of most of the bands on this disc, though I suspect others, such as Wowie, will have.
The only names I know, or at least recognise are:

Unitopia, Magic Pie, Supernal Endgame, Flamborough Head, Phaedra, Forgotten Suns, Tinyfish, Apple Pie, Vanilla Project and Pandora.

The only bands I have anything by are:

Unitopia, Magic Pie, Flamborough Head and Apple Pie.

So, this project maybe interesting from the point of view of discovering new bands, even though they are not playing original music. :)

Looks like the band of which I am a part - Supernal Endgame - will be streaming our cover of "The Flower King" for the "Flower Full of Stars" project at this site starting in about two weeks:
http://powerofprog.com/profile/SUPERNALENDGAME

You can go there now to hear a preliminary mix of our cover of Yes' "Parallels" (for another tribute album) - that track will be available to hear until midnight on November 28th.
