Introducing me and my band, Relocator

Postby Kyo » 12 Apr 2010, 01:44

Hi everyone, let me introduce myself! :)

My name is Michael and I live in the area of Nuremberg in the South of Germany.
I've been listening to The Flower Kings and their countless solo and side projects
for over a decade now - I first heard them opening for Spock's Beard back in 1999.
I've seen TFK twice since (both times with Daniel Gildenlow still in the band) and
I also saw Roine live with Transatlantic on the Bridge Across Europe tour in 2001. :)

I've been a musician for about the same time, but only recently did I finally
take part in a band (or rather a project) that managed to finish an album.
The project is called Relocator and we play all-instrumental prog/fusion.
Former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian is guesting on on our debut
CD (he recorded all the keyboard parts) and contributing some fantastic playing.
Another special element is our electric violinist who plays on our album's opening
track and our two 10+ minute pieces. The album has been getting very
good reviews so far (among them an amazing "9 out of 10" from the famous
DPRP.net website) and you can check it out in its entirety on our MySpace page:
http://www.myspace.com/relocatorproject

More info on the musicians (and where to get the album) here:
http://www.relocator-project.com

Let me know what you think! :)

All the best,
Michael

Kollega :D

*heavy* greets from frankfurt/m ;)
and welcome on board!!

Sounds pretty pro!!
I wonder a bit about the keyboard.
because many jazz-metal/instrumental-prog bands i know from germany are pretty consistant in being heavy,
but your keyboard brings in something more jazzy, proggy - different - stuff!!
i stay tuned!

are you a bit into Gentle Giant or Brand-X?
Dont miss!

:D

Will you be at the Transatlantic show in Frankfurt then?

Sounds pretty pro!!

Thanks! We get that a lot, which is really cool because we mixed and produced the album ourselves! :D

We're very happy with the keyboard parts. Derek brought in some very cool sounds and
some of those solos are (IMHO) among the best I've heard from him - I particularly like
those in the middle section of Urban Blue and over the ending section of Aavishkar. :)

Keep listening! :D

Yeah, Stefan (our guitarist and main writer) and I are both Gentle Giant fans.

I never really listened to any Brand-X (don't know about the other guys).

Hey everyone,

just in case anyone cares, I just did this nice interview with Drop-d magazine from Ireland - check it out! :D

Thanks to Jonathan Keane!

Btw, did I mention our album has made it to Japan? Marquee Inc. picked it up and is now selling it through their World Disque Web store. Yay! Not bad for a 100% independent production, eh? :D

Haha, yeah, I like that one, too! I just wish the sound was better (the guitar is way too quiet in particular). :)

I'm not quite sure yet how to incorporate it into my signature (size limits and all), but we finally have an easy-to-remember URL for our Facebook page:

You've got a 255 character limit, so I think it would be OK...

Yes, but I'd like to incorporate it into the animated GIF somehow and if I want to use multiple links, it'll get complicated.

Anyway, Bill Knispel of Bill's Prog Blog (a truly excellent site!) has just published his extensive interview with me, check it out! :)

Just wanted to mention that there's a full-page article on Relocator in the brand-new issue of Classic Rock Presents Prog - woohoo! :D

And I've been told the extensive Dream Theater interviews are also worth a read. ;)
