Finally came over from the old board!

Postby The Letter M » 30 Dec 2008, 03:29

So I had not visited the FK boards in awhile, and when I came to log-in, I realized the board was new! So I just re-registered and now I am back!

I have been on a HUGE Flower Kings kick lately (for about the last 2-3 weeks). I have listened to each album at least 3 times in the last couple of weeks, from Roine Stolt's The Flower King to their latest, The Sum Of No Evil, as well as several member-related solo/group projects, guest appearances and side-projects/bands!

If anyone knows where I can get the Japanese Avalon Release of Flower Power (with 4 bonus tracks) for relatively cheap, let me know! I'm looking to add it to my collection, which has grown quite a bit since last year when I first joined this board (well, the old board). For the curious, here is what I have so far...

The Flower Kings:
-Back In The World Of Adventures
-Retropolis
-Édition Limitée Québec 1998
-Stardust We Are
-Flower Power
-Alive On Planet Earth
-Space Revolver (US Release)
-Space Revolver (Japanese 2-Disc Release - 5-track Bonus Disc)
-The Rainmaker (US Release)
-The Rainmaker (Digi-pak 2-Disc Release - 6-track Bonus Disc)
-Unfold The Future (Regular Jewel-Case with Bonus Track)
-Unfold The Future (Digi-pak release with Bonus Track)
-Meet The Flower Kings (2-DVD and 2-CD boxset)
-Adam And Eve (US Release)
-Adam And Eve (Japanese 2-Disc Release - 9-track Bonus Disc)
-Betchawannadancestoopid!!!
-Brimstoned In Europe (Circus Brimstone)
-Paradox Hotel (Jewel-Case Promotional Copy)
-Paradox Hotel (Digi-pak release)
-Instant Delivery (2-DVD and 2-CD boxset)
-The Road Back Home
-The Sum of No Evil (Digi-pak 2-Disc Release - 3-track Bonus Disc)
-Carpe Diem (Official Live Bootleg)

Roine Stolt:
-The Flower King
-Hydrophonia
-Wall Street Voodoo

Transatlantic:
-SMPTe
-Live In America
-Building The Bridge/Live In America DVD
-Bridge Across Forever
-Bridge Across Forever (Digi-pak 2-Disc Limited Edition)
-Live In Europe (2-CD)
-Live In Europe (2-DVD)
-Transatlantic Demos (Neal Morse)
-SMPTe: Roine Stolt Mixes

The Tangent:
-The Music That Died Alone
-The World That we Drive Through (Special Edition with Bonus Track)
-Pyramids and Stars
-A Place In The Queue (Digi-pak 2-Disc Release - 6-track Bonus Disc))
-Going Off On One (DVD and 2-CD boxset)
-Not As Good As The Book (Special Edition w/book)
-FOG (Andy Tillison)

Kaipa:
-Notes From The Past
-Keyholder
-Mindrevolutions
-Angling Feelings

Karmakanic:
-Entering The Spectra
-Wheel Of Life
-Who Is Da Boss In The Factory

Tomas Bodin:
-An Ordinary Night In My Ordinary Life
-Pinup Guru
-Sonic Boulevard
-Swedish Family: Vintage Prog
-I AM

Time Requiem:
-Time Requiem
-Inner Circle of Reality

I've got my eye on getting Cinematograaf, Opus Atlantica, and the two Flying Food Circus releases. I still need the 4 fanclub CDs as well!

Can anyone suggest other member-related projects, preferbly where the FK member is performing, and even more preferbly, two or more? I know there are a couple out there with Jonas and Zoltan on it but have not really looked into it - I could use some great recommendations!

Thanks to all for your welcomes-to-come and I look forward to discussing one of my favorite bands of all time here!

-Marc.

Welcome back, Letter M :) I see you are quite a completist. Very impressive collection! I have given up trying to purchase everything TFK related as that would leave me a very poor man. Sticking to the official releases plus the side projects that looks interesting. Btw; are those Fanclub cds even possible to get for a decent buck anymore, or do you have to empty your bank account to some greedy ebay kid?
If you can talk brilliantly about a problem, it can create the consoling illusion that it has been mastered.

I'm not even sure what people are charging for them!!! Honestly, if I could download FLACs of them from the official site and pay a few bucks for them, I'd be just as happy!

And yes, I am quite a completist! I blame my brother's toy-collecting tendencies for that as they rubbed off onto me and into my love for music and collecting artists discographies! TFK just happens to be one band that has a lot to offer, so I find myself wanting to get more and more...

Hi Marc,
welcome back on board!
There is another Flower King album:
In 1998 they released "Scanning the Greenhouse"
It's a Sampler from the time 1995-1998
"Betchawannadancestoopid" - What is that? Never heard about it.

all the best

Hi Lilo, Betchawannadancestoopid is an 'official bootleg' recorded during the US-tour a couple of years ago,
it contains only 'improvised' live music... i don't think this one is available any longer... and for a real
completist i see also the 'original version' of 'Unfold the future' is missing in this collection which is only to
be found on a few 'promo-copies' which left the cd-factory before it went down for a couple of weeks..

This is a BRILLIANT idea. King Crimson do similar via the DGM site... The material is there, might as well (1) make some money back on it and (2) allow people to enjoy the songs without downloading illegally.

WIN / WIN solution!
