wowie: saw it on the progarchives forum :D. Got a Bond overdose; the ones I liked best : Goldfinger, Dr No, The man with the golden gun, Golden Eye, The living Daylights, Live and let die and On her Majesty's secret service. I think the last one is the best for me.

best movies I've seen lately:

Scenes from a marriage :o :o :o
Lonesome Jim
Pan's Labyrinth
Videodrome

TV Series:

The Wire season 1
Gilmore Girls, half of season 1

Goldfinger and On her majestys are very good!
Goldeneye is pretty much underrated, btw the same director like Casino Royale.

i would add FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - 2 of my my absolute faves.
Moonraker is a very special one, as it is very 70s cheapness (which makes it also one of the most funny one) but its SPACE and the scenes in RIO are also unforgetable and also the jump out of the plane at the beginning made history!
As is the ski sequence at the beg of THE SPY WHO LOVED ME.
remember it was 1979!!

THE WIRE is great!!!

btw
There is also a BBC nostalgic series called THE HOUR, with the one guy from the wire and with the new Q
isnt it coincidence?

Le Prénom
Mon Pire Cauchemar
Lincoln

For me, Brosnan is a pretty awful actor. I call him Mr Wooden. I've seen him in a variety of rolls, including the awful Mama Mia, the predictable Dante's Peak, the rather good Lawnmower Man and the funny Mrs Doubtfire. He underwhelms me in everything.

so why not?

i think the technic they used is absolutley great!
The many actors coming very natural, i like that for this kind of movie.
The message and the script is also fantastic.

it has some lenghts here and there so it is not as entertaining as a Hitchcock movie, but the shot/production is fantastic work and the message is so so important for me.

A short impression of my rating system.
under 7 are mostly movies you cant recommend for the common audience.
8 means that this is a pretty high quality of production and also a good/important script.
9 is very creative production and important message.
10 is beyond expectations.

So i think you can rate NO with a 9. As 8 is too low for me as this would underrate the message and the technic for me.

No is like 8,1 in my book ;) Although I must admit that I'm a b* for comedy.

1)A new hope 9,2/10
2)The Empire Strikes Back 9,2/10
3)Life of Pi 9/10
4)I give it a year 7,9/10
5)The great Gatsby 8/10
6)The Internship 8,3/10
7)The Heat 8,3/10
8)Paprika 8,2/10

And off course : Gilmore Girls Season 3 & 4 10/10 in my overenthousiastic book  :P

ii think i understand your viewpoint, and i can second some of your ratings here.
but sometimes there are movies, which are not as epic and intense or imposing .... they have length, pretty psychologic or political theme, but they are technically extremely good work (production/script/director/actor) and the message/theme is also very very important .... so i would not rate such movies beyond a star wars movie , its even hard to rate them behind Hitchcock movies .... as this underrates the work of all the people who did it and the meaning of the message in a more objective way of lyrical criticism i think.

Wrong
Red 2
Hotel Noir
Arthur Newman
Paulette
Killing them softly
Place beyond the pines
Revenge for Jolly
The Lords of Salem
Promised Land
Staten Island
The Way Way Back
la belle verte

To bad Wowie, or maybe you could see the first 2 Before's as a cinematic 'Monsters & Men' :D ;)

Many people claim that the new one is the best. The fighting is definitely one of the more realistic things you will see this year, in this way Before Midnight gets closer to Ingmar Bergman than most other movies could dream of :D . People who don't recognize themselves in the relation of Jesse & Céline are either huge exceptions or huge liars :D
Nevertheless I think Before Midnight's main problem is that it's too short (which is in a way also a good thing off course), mainly because of the series' tradition (being: coming to a 'conclusion' in one day or even shorter), there were for instances a lot of characters I wanted to know better.

For me Before Sunset has the best ending. Before Sunrise is very important because it started the whole thing, but in a way Before Midnight might be more interesting to some for it seems to deal more with the daily grind and survival.

:D

ah ja maybe thats the reason, i never came pretty close to Bergman.
I saw the one with the 2 kids who must live with their ... was it uncle ... who is very religious .... cant remember the title ... shame on me :D
And i also tried two more i think, but didnt get it to finish them.
The one with the 2 people in the car ....
and i think the one with the dead .... not sure

Bergman is one of my heroes.

The first one might be 'Fanny & Alexander', which I like very much :D Although 'Scenes from a marriage' is my current favorite.

My favourite movie is Blade Runner, a fantastic film about what it means to be a human being.

Never had the chance to watch it, nor read the manga.
I'd like to, though, because I've heard very good things about it.
Thanks for the suggestion.

yeah both parts are very special.
the first one is pretty dark with a lot of action.
the second one is even more mind riddling with less action.

the 2 season series is also very interesting but quite different, as it is more about KI and hacking etc and got more comedy elements .... different but one of the best sci-fi stuff around, so if you like, dont miss ;)

For quite a while now I've been into J-horror and K-horror. Bought a few new films lately, Reincarnation, Shutter, Pulse and Ghost. All are very good, though I have to say that, for creepiness, Pulse stands out. A very bleak, almost 'hollow' film. Almost appears to be in slow motion at times, though it isn't. Not in your face frightening, but definitely eerie and jumpy throughout. Recommended! Also, Shutter is excellent. The American version is actually very good too, so both are worth a watch imo. :)

no idea that theres a series behind LAUBERGE ESPANOLE
which was a pretty good movie about students/young people around 20-28/living community

MUST SEE ---- LUCY
this is workin out what some movies tried to do already...

KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM --- nice hommage to fanatsy, live roleplay, Games of Thrones, heavy metal .... etc

POOLBOY 2 --- maybe the best trash movie of the 21st century

20 feet from Stardom --- nice docu about the background singer in the 60s and also some actual ones.

Uzumaki ... spiral, anyone?

Suicide Circle ... yes!

Word & Pictures --- nice flick about education ...

Under the Skin ... pretty didfficult movie to watch as it is less words, some experimental and distorting pictures, very beautiful pictures, thrill, ***, sci-fi .... but also a jumping script and storytelling... so, explore it by yourself

Jimmy P .... nice one!

Everybodys Fine ... well, okay and some strong moments

Lucky Luke (2009) - the beginning is maybe a bit irritating, but i like the style the created.

Its a disaster ... woody allen goes apocalypse

Snow Piercer - pretty metaphoric

...

series:
FARGO .... super super super!!!! MUST SEE!!!!
Lilyhammer ... must see!!
Penny Dreadful ... some goods and some bads ... anyway, just the historic theater scenes make it worth watching
Star Wars Rebels .... well, they are balancing a lot between here and there ... lets see where this will go...
The Walking Dead SEASON 5 .... now, after 4 long depressing seasons ... its starting... its starting!!! ;)
Hemlock Grove SEASON 2 ... nice evolution of the series. one of the best teen series, nice horror and even Twin Peaks elements in it.
Ray Donovan ... one of the best action n gangster series around
a lot more ...
